Acute Care Unit (ACU)

Sullivan County Community Hospital’s Acute Care Unit consists of all private rooms, and a Swingbed Program.

The ACU is the area of the hospital where patients receive medical care while recovering from illness or surgery. These patients are typically medically stable and ready to be discharged home within a few days.

The Swingbed Program is designed for those patients unable to care for themselves and who require additional therapy and/or care prior to discharge. Patients admitted to the Swingbed Program remain on the ACU to receive the additional care and therapy. Patients must meet certain Medicare guidelines to be admitted into the program. Occasionally, commercial insurance policies will provide for skilled nursing in a swingbed program and will recommend the program for persons needing further rehabilitation.

Visiting hours are from 8 AM – 8 PM and include only those who are 12 years of age or older.
